Manufacturing Challenges
The neck massager had a compact internal structure, leaving limited space for machining and assembly.
Several features required careful control, including:
- Precise mounting holes for internal components
- Flat and accurate mating surfaces
- Consistent wall thickness on machined housing sections
- Smooth edges and controlled surface appearance
- Dimensional consistency between mating components
For compact consumer products, even a small dimensional deviation can affect assembly. Our engineering team reviewed the drawings and 3D models before machining to identify potential manufacturing issues and determine suitable machining processes.
CNC Machining Process
Depending on the geometry of each component, we used CNC milling and multi-axis machining to produce the required features.
For aluminum parts, CNC machining provided a good balance between weight, strength, machining efficiency, and surface quality. Complex pockets, mounting holes, slots, and curved profiles could be produced directly from the customer's CAD files.
Where tighter positional relationships were required, machining operations were planned carefully to maintain the relationship between critical holes, reference surfaces, and assembly features.
After machining, parts went through deburring and surface finishing according to the project requirements.
Surface Finishing
For consumer products, appearance is almost as important as dimensional accuracy.
Depending on the component and final application, available finishing options can include:
- Anodizing
- Bead blasting
- Brushing
- Polishing
- Laser marking
- Custom surface finishing
The finishing process was selected according to the material, appearance requirements, and intended assembly environment.
Quality Control
Before shipment, finished components were inspected against the customer's drawings and specifications.
Our inspection process focuses on critical dimensions, hole locations, mating surfaces, overall geometry, and surface condition.
For precision components, inspection methods can include calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and CMM measurement according to the part requirements.
This helps ensure that machined components remain consistent and ready for assembly.
