Injection Molded Robot Housing

CNC Machining ABS Robot Parts: Housings, Grippers & Covers

We machine ABS robot parts for humanoid robotics startups, collaborative robot makers and educational robot brands. Typical parts include gripper fingers, sensor housings, decorative covers, battery compartments and cable clips. ABS is light, inexpensive, takes paint beautifully, and machines to ±0.05 mm tolerance. We ship prototypes in 5–8 days and production runs worldwide.

When to Use ABS - and When to Choose Something Else

ABS works well when:

  • The part is a cover, housing or non-load-bearing bracket
  • You need to paint, texture or silk-screen the part
  • Weight matters and the part is not structural
  • Cost matters

Choose another material when:

  • The part carries structural load → 7075 aluminum
  • The part sees high temperatures → PEEK or aluminum
  • The part needs wear resistance → Delrin/acetal
  • Medical or food-contact → PEEK or stainless steel

Design Tips for ABS CNC Parts

  • Keep walls 2–4 mm thick. Below 1.5 mm the part flexes during machining.
  • Use R1.5–R3 mm internal corners - ABS machines best with larger tools.
  • For repeated assembly, use heat-set threaded inserts rather than tapping directly.
  • For cosmetic parts, specify bead blast for a uniform matte finish, or primer + paint.

FAQ

Question 1: Can you produce multiple robotic parts using ABS CNC Machining?

A1: Yes, of course. Our CNC machine tools are designed for large-scale production of ABS robotic parts, with flexible and automated processing to ensure consistent quality, fast turnaround times, and competitive prices. We often order thousands of robotic parts.

Question 2: MOQ?

A2: No minimum. We start at 1 piece. Unit cost drops at 50+ pieces.

Question 3: Lead time?

A3: Prototype 5–8 working days, pilot batch 10–15 days, production 15–20 days. ABS machines faster than metal."

Question 4: What file format is acceptable for CNC Machining ABS robotic parts?

A4: We accept all standard formats in the robotics industry, including 3D models (STEP, IGES, STL, CAD) and 2D drawings (DXF, DWG). Our team of experts can review your design and submit a DFM (Design For Manufacturing)
