We machine aluminum parts for industrial use, mostly for equipment, automation systems, and structural components. A lot of projects start from prototypes and then move into repeat production once everything fits and runs as expected.

 

The two materials we use most are 6061-T6 and 7075-T6.

6061 is more common. It's easier to machine and works well for brackets, housings, and general parts that don't carry heavy loads.

7075 is stronger. We usually see it in parts that take more stress, like mechanical structures or robot components. It costs more, but in some cases it's necessary.

 

Our machining setup includes both milling and turning. For simpler parts, 3-axis machines are enough. For more complex shapes or multi-face machining, we switch to 5-axis. It really depends on the geometry.

 

Tolerance-wise, most aluminum parts are kept within ±0.01 mm. For key features like bearing holes or fitting surfaces, we can go down to around ±0.005 mm. Aluminum is relatively stable to machine, but thin walls or large flat areas can still move slightly, so we usually check those areas more carefully.

 

Surface finish depends on how the part is used. Some customers only need basic deburring, while others require anodizing. We offer both standard anodizing and hard anodizing. For outdoor or wear-related applications, hard anodizing tends to last longer. We've had parts tested past 400–500 hours in salt spray conditions after anodizing, mainly for industrial equipment used in humid environments.

 

In terms of processing, aluminum is generally straightforward, but there are still details to watch. For example, we use water-based coolant to avoid staining, and we try to avoid designs with very thin unsupported walls. If a load-bearing section is too thin, we'll usually point it out early and suggest a small adjustment.

 

Lead time is flexible. Prototypes are often done within a few days. Small to medium batches depend on complexity, but we try to keep the turnaround practical so customers can move forward without delays.

 

For repeat orders, we keep records of tooling and machining parameters. That helps keep consistency from one batch to the next, especially for parts used in assemblies.

 

If your project involves lightweight metal parts with decent strength and good machinability, aluminum is usually a solid choice-and this is the type of work we deal with every day.
